Bangladesh came forward with a renewed vow to put an end to deaths resulting from tobacco-related diseases while observing the ‘World No Tobacco Day (WNTD)’ on 31 May 2015. This year, as the WNTD theme, WHO calls on countries to work together to end the illicit trade of tobacco products which remains a major challenge in tobacco control. The illicit tobacco market may account for as much as 1 in every 10 cigarettes consumed globally. Illicit tobacco products lure young people into tobacco experimentation and use because they are more affordable and mislead young tobacco users by not displaying health warnings. Illicit trade causes substantial losses in government revenues.
